FXC is not part of the AWIPS baseline and as such is not an officially endorsed application for AWIPS. It should not be run on AWIPS baseline hardware without approval.

Installation Procedure

You will need to download three files: The installation script (FXCinstall.xxx), the Java VM (jre-xxx-linux-i586.bin), and the latest FXC code (FXCx_x_NWS.tar.gz). Do not untar or unzip the files since the installation script will do that for you and also set up the proper system environment. -- You may need to change the file protections to make the files executable. -- Please follow the detailed installation instructions (Linux)

Documentation

See the FXC homepage http://fxc.noaa.gov which provides a general overview of FXC and also contains links to the Operator and User manuals. It also provides some sample graphics created by various users.

Short Training Videos (approx. 2 min each)

Important

In order to save customization data DO NOT delete or rename the old FXC directory before running the installation script. You may want to make a copy of it (.tar) in case you need to revert back to it. Also, the installation scripts for FXC releases may be different. Make sure you use the proper one.
